📘 Case in Grammar – Definition, Classification & Examples (with Bangla)

✅ Definition of Case (in English):

Case is the form of a noun or pronoun that shows its relationship with other words in a sentence—such as its function as a subject, object, or in possession.

✅ বাংলা সংজ্ঞা:

Case (কারক) হলো noun বা pronoun এর এমন একটি রূপ যা বাক্যে তার অবস্থান বা কাজ বোঝায়—যেমন: কর্তা, কর্ম, সম্পত্তি ইত্যাদি।

📌 বাংলায় “কারক” শব্দটি সাধারণত “কাকে?”, “কী?”, “কার?”, ইত্যাদি প্রশ্নের উত্তরে পাওয়া যায়।

📚 Types of Case (Cases of Noun & Pronoun)

ইংরেজি ব্যাকরণে চারটি প্রধান Case রয়েছে:

1. 🟢 Nominative Case (Subjective Case / কর্তৃকারক)

English:
When a noun or pronoun works as the subject of a verb.

বাংলা:
যখন noun বা pronoun বাক্যে কাজ করার ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু বোঝায়, তখন তাকে Nominative Case বলা হয়।

🔹 Examples / উদাহরণ:

He plays cricket. → (He = subject)
Rahim is a good boy. → (Rahim = subject)

2. 🔵 Objective Case (Karmakarak / Object Case)

English:
When a noun or pronoun is the object of a verb or preposition.

বাংলা:
যখন noun বা pronoun কার্যভুক্ত (যার উপর কাজ হচ্ছে) হয়, তখন তা Objective Case হয়।

🔹 Examples / উদাহরণ:

I love her.
They saw Rahim.
The gift is for me.

👉 Subjective: I → Objective: me
👉 Subjective: they → Objective: them

3. 🟠 Possessive Case (সম্পত্তিকারক)

English:
Shows ownership or possession of something.

বাংলা:
কোনো noun বা pronoun যদি কার বা কাহার তা বোঝায়, তখন সেটি Possessive Case।

🔹 Examples / উদাহরণ:

This is Rahim’s book.
My car is red.
That is her bag.

👉 Common Rule: Add ’s to show possession (for singular nouns)
👉 Plural possession: boys’, teachers’

4. 🟣 Vocative Case (সম্বোধনকারক)

English:
Used to call or address someone directly.

বাংলা:
যখন কাউকে সম্বোধন বা ডাক দেওয়া হয়, তখন সেটিকে Vocative Case বলে।

Rahim, come here.
Dear friend, please help me.
O God!, help us.
