১. Definition
Phrase (ফ্রেজ)
A phrase is a group of words that work together but do not have both a subject and a verb, so it cannot stand alone as a complete sentence.
বাংলায়:
ফ্রেজ হলো শব্দের এমন একটি সমষ্টি যার মধ্যে কর্তা (subject) এবং ক্রিয়া (verb) দুটোই থাকে না। তাই এটি সম্পূর্ণ বাক্য হিসেবে দাঁড়াতে পারে না।
Clause (ক্লজ)
A clause is a group of words that have both a subject and a verb. It can be independent (complete sentence) or dependent (incomplete sentence).

ক্লজ হলো শব্দের এমন একটি অংশ যার মধ্যে কর্তা এবং ক্রিয়া দুটোই থাকে। এটি স্বাধীন বা নির্ভরশীল হতে পারে।

৩.১. Independent Clause (স্বাধীন ক্লজ)
- Has subject + verb and expresses a complete thought.
- Can stand alone as a sentence.

- আমি একটি বই পড়ছি।
৩.২. Dependent Clause / Subordinate Clause (নির্ভরশীল ক্লজ)
- Has subject + verb but does not express a complete thought.
- Cannot stand alone; depends on independent clause.
