What is a Verb?

A verb is a word that expresses an action, occurrence, or state of being. It tells what the subject of a sentence does, experiences, or is.

ক্রিয়া (Verb) হলো এমন একটি শব্দ যা বাক্যে কোনো কাজ, অবস্থা বা ঘটনার বর্ণনা দেয়।

📚 Types of Verbs

  1. Action Verbs (কর্মবাচক ক্রিয়া):
    Show physical or mental action.
    Examples: run, write, think, eat
  2. Linking Verbs (সম্পর্কবাচক ক্রিয়া):
    Connect the subject with a word that describes or identifies it (often forms of ‘to be’).
    Examples: is, am, are, was, were, seem, become
  3. Auxiliary (Helping) Verbs (সহায়ক ক্রিয়া):
    Help the main verb form tenses, voices, moods.
    Examples: have, has, had, do, does, did, will, shall
  4. Modal Verbs (মুডাল ক্রিয়া):
    Express ability, possibility, permission, or obligation.
    Examples: can, could, may, might, must, shall, should, will, would
